Play Group tomorrow!

This is what the kids will be decorating for Play group. They will either be finger painting or making a hand print on it, and there is a magnet to put it up on your fridge. If you haven't yet, please make sure to RSVP! The hearts are pre-made, and we want to make sure there are enough for all the kids that are coming.

When: Wednesday, February 11th
Time: 10:30am, right after class!
Where: White Plains Beach near Barber's Point, 5 min from Kapolei (see or email Sarah for more info/directions) . Look for the pavillions.

Please bring a small snack and drink for you and your child.

Play group activity will be in the shade, and all materials will be provided!

CONGRATULATIONS!!

To all who participated in the Seabee 5K race this past weekend.  Stroller Strides really represented in the stroller category, and finished well ahead of many running without strollers!  It was a lot of fun, and we hope to see more of you out there for the next race.

U.S. Navy Seabee 5K Run

THIS SATURDAY!! In lieu of class, we are entering as a team for the annual U.S. Navy Seabee 5K/10K and 1K Keiki Fun Run. We are planning on doing the 5K as a team together. Everyone will go at their own pace and we will run/walk together! Strollers are welcome, so let's get out there!

Cost to enter is $20 and includes a t-shirt.

Baby Loves Disco!

This is a really fun event for parents and kids! Kid-friendly music, activities in a "club" atmosphere. It's an opportunity to meet other parents, see different vendors and activities available throughout the community, and feel like you are getting a night out on the town (during the day!). I attended the inaugural event last year, and it was really fun. There is even a "quiet" area for parents with small children, or for when you need a break from all of the activity.

I recommend buying tickets ahead of time since the one I went to sold out completely in advance and they had to turn away many people at the door. If you think you may attend, post in the comment section below and that may encourage a group to go.

Meet the Trainers (Part 3 - Sarah)

Part 3 of our "Meet the Trainers" series introduces us to our last trainer, and

Stroller Strides Central Leeward owner, Sarah.

Sarah writes:

"Hello, my name is Sarah Hoey. I LOVE STROLLER STRIDES. I have been involved in (the) fitness (industry) for 8 years and am AFAA, ACE, Stroller Strides, Pilates, Spinning, Turbo-Kick and Water Aerobics certified. I also carry my personal trainer certification.

I own and believe in Stroller Strides because of the members. My body changed after I had a baby and I was alone and sad at times.

This was a huge transition in my life. I discovered Stroller Strides at a parade, and all it took was one trail class and I was hooked.

I have been involved in fitness forever but this was different because it came with the support of real mommies, talk time, workout time, mom's night out, and a chance to feel comfortable in my own skin again.

Since having my daughter, Sophia Ella Shirley Hoey, I have moved 4 times, and finally settled in Hawaii. I am originally from north of Calgary Alberta Canada. Yes, a huge change of climate, yet I love it.

Like the other trainers, I spend my time on fitness goals of my own. I have run 3 half marathon, and compete in figure and fitness model competitions.

As the owner of Stroller Strides, I want to meet you if you are reading this, and encourage your to get back into shape and meet our amazing mommies who have so much to share and offer.

Punahou Carnival

Rae recently emailed to let us know about the upcoming Punahou Carnival.  She writes,

"For those who are new to the island, the Punahou Carnival is a FUN fmaily outing - food, rides, games, white elephant sale, farmer's market, etc. (the food itself is a major draw!).  The Junior Class puts it on, and this year the theme is "Keeping it Reel" - so expect an abundance of film/movie allusions."

The Punahou Carnival has gained the status of the most profitable fundraiser in the nation.  Be sure to visit Malia who will be working at the Malasada booth with her fellow Punahou classmates.

Date: February 6th and 7th

Time: 11am - 11pm

Admission is FREE!
