</div>
It was just under two years ago that I sat down to write a blog post about how Stroller Strides changed my life. I was pushed beyond measure by some of Stroller Strides' finest instructors, I gained a confidence that I thought had been lost forever, I gained self esteem and body I was proud of. My life transformed literally Stroller Strides class after Stroller Strides class. I took it a step further, and became an instructor - and then eventually bought the Leeward franchise because I knew it was something I needed to do - I needed to give back what I was so freely given. In January 2012, I took the reigns of the greatest business a person could ever hope to be a part of. I met AMAZING women. I have worked beside some of the greatest instructors with a passion for Stroller Strides that is just indescribable. I have watched handfuls of women, with stories just like mine, transform and become marathon runners. The experience has been incredible and a true blessing.<br />
So, with all of that said - it's easy to imagine that this is probably one of the hardest posts I have had to write in a while. My time on this beautiful island is coming to an end and I will be moving in just a few short weeks. And since I can't take Stroller Strides and all of you with my on my new journey - the time has come to leave it in the hands of someone who has a great passion for Stroller Strides and fitness. It is my great pleasure to announce to you all that Jessica Buxton will be taking over for me as the franchisee of Stroller Strides Leeward Oahu, beginning on November 1st.<br />
Jessica and I have already been working together to ensure the transition is smooth and seamless. I am confident that her love of fitness and passion for Stroller Strides will reflect in the work she does as your new franchisee. I am excited to pass on the torch - but I am SO sad to leave behind what has truly been an experience of a lifetime. And even more than that - I am SO sad to leave the many amazing women, moms, and friends that I have grown to know and love. I will carry my love of Stroller Strides and my Stroller Strides ohana in my heart forever....<br />
<br />
And with that - I leave you with one of my most favorite quotes of all time (that I will need to carry me through the moments of missing a wonderful bunch of women).<br />
<br />
"Don't cry because it's over, SMILE because it happened." - Dr. Seuss<br />
<br />
Very Truly Yours,<br />
Trish <br />
<br />
A few words from your new owner-to-be, Jessica:<br />
<br />
As you have all just
read, I will be the proud, new owner of
Fit4Mom Central Leeward Oahu. Over a year
ago, I joined Stroller Strides through the advisement of a dear friend of
mine. For the next few months I sweat,
complained, sweat some more, and sometimes even laughed my way through 20
pounds of left over baby weight. I also
gained a whole new prospective on fitness & friendship, and how both are SO
important in our roles as mothers! Last spring
I began my journey towards becoming an instructor; a job I have so thoroughly
enjoyed and find completely fulfilling.
The opportunity to see you ladies reach remarkable fitness goals
continues to be nothing but inspiring.<br />
When
the opportunity arose to take over our fabulous Fit4Mom franchise, I simply
couldn't pass it up! I am beyond excited
for this opportunity and thank Trish for believing in me enough to leave the
franchise in my hands. I know the
success of our Stroller Strides could not have been possible if it weren't for
Trish’s passion, and I can only imagine this decision for her comes with a
heavy heart! I will give my all to make sure those shoes
are filled and this transition goes smoothly for each of you. I have met nearly everyone while instructing at
our locations and I am looking forward to us building a stronger relationship as
I work to ensure your experience with Stroller Strides is a resounding success. You are a beautiful group of motivated and
determined women. I am so honored to lead
this community of mothers who understand the importance of health and fitness
in our everyday roles. Whatever your reason
for joining Stroller Strides, big or small, I promise, together we can make it
happen – and together we will continue to “make strides in fitness, motherhood,
and life!”<br />
<br />
Fondly,<br />
Jessica Buxton<br />

<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Aloha my name is Barbara and I’m a 32 year-old full-time mommy
of two adorable and rambunctious little boys, Landon (3 years) and Kaleb (18
months). If we would have met at some point in the last 12 years, you would
have never believed that I used to weigh 125 lbs. and that I use to do some
running in high school.<span> </span>My amazing
husband Lucas and I got married about a year out of high school 12 years ago,
which is also about how long I’ve been struggling with weight issues. When we
got married I weighed about 140 lbs. and I moved from our home in The Sunshine
State to join Lucas in Texas. He has been in the Army for 13 years now and I
believe a great deal of my weight problems are from constantly trying to adjust
to all the military required moves and deployments. He has been deployed 3
times to the Middle East: 12 months, 15 months and then again for 12 months. During
each deployment, I lived in a new environment with my close family and friends
sometimes as far as half way across the world. My outlet became food and eating
all the wrong food was my method of coping with the stress. <span> </span>After having my first son, I topped the
scale at 250lbs. Some of the “after baby weight” came off with little effort,
but when it stopped, I was still significantly overweight when I got pregnant
with my second son.<span> </span></span></span></div>

<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">When I joined the Schofield Barracks Stroller Strides group
just over a year ago, I was 4 month after having my second son, weighed 196 lbs.,
and could barely run around the track one time. Just like every other
unsuccessful attempt at losing weight I have had in the past, when I joined the
group my weight loss goal was to reach 155 lbs. <span> </span>I have a very clear memory of my very first day and how hard
it was for me, but seeing all of those women zip and around the track with
strollers it tow and knock out burpees like it was nothing truly inspired me.
From that day forward I was determined to be a strong mom like them and as each
month passed, I got stronger and stronger. I can honestly say that it has not been
an easy journey and that I have had to physically push myself harder than I’ve ever
had to in my life. However, it was SO much easier because I ALWAYS had the
support of the most amazing group of women who I am proud to say are my
friends.<span> </span>With their support, I was
not only able to lose the weight, but I was able to get back in my running
shoes and enjoy running like I did in high school. I have since completed many
runs to include: 5ks, 10ks and I just recently completed my first half marathon.
I’m looking forward to the future and I’m excited to say that I have been
training extremely hard to prepare for the Honolulu Marathon in December.

my life because I only thought of it in the “gaining weight” context, but I

this blog post for a long time, but I have been struggling to find the words
and the courage to put it together. My
transformation story isn’t one that involves losing a whole bunch of pounds or
dropping several pants sizes. My
transformation story is about what Stroller Strides did for me emotionally.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I started attending
Stroller Strides classes in February, when my son, Charlie, was about 10 weeks
old. At the time I was struggling with
the idea of being a mother to this tiny human.
I was struggling with the new look and limitations of my body. I was struggling with the adjustment of going
from working full-time in a career that I loved, to being a stay at home mom,
which felt very isolating at that time.
What I did not realize (or at least I was unwilling to admit) was that
while I was struggling with those things, I was also struggling with post
partum depression. It was never
extreme. I never wanted to hurt my son
or myself. I just was not enjoying my
everyday life. And it was never how I
imagined post partum depression would be when I would read about it in those
pregnancy books. I was not sad and
crying everyday. I was simply not happy
with my life. And I was filled with
constant anxiety that I could not shake. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> I was coping with
things all right during those first few weeks of Stroller Strides. I enjoyed being around other moms and
starting down the path of fitness, though I knew I had a long way to go. Then my world got turned even more upside down
when my father was very unexpectedly diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. He died 16 days after his diagnosis. I disappeared from class for most of March
while I went home to Indiana to be with my family. I came back to Stroller Strides and did not
tell anyone at class what had been going on, only that I had been at home. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> My mind was all over
the place. My undiagnosed mild PPD
quickly got much, much worse. I felt
like I had no control over anything happening in my life. I was overwhelmed with the loss of my father,
with my child who constantly demanded my attention, and with my daily life that
looked nothing like any life I had ever lived.
I kept coming to class though, and at some point I realized that there
was one thing I could control- my body. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> I started attending
class as often as I could. I started to
really push myself during the workouts.
I started joining the runners as often as I could. And slowly but surely, I started to feel
better. The workouts became easier over
time. I felt myself burning fat and
building muscle. I could see the results
in the way my clothes fit and the way I looked in the mirror. And almost without realizing it, bettering
myself physically translated into bettering myself mentally and
emotionally. I fully credit my
involvement with Stroller Strides with my recovery from post partum
depression. Exercise makes us
happy. We all know that. But for me, exercise and the support of all
of you amazing women, did not just make me happy, it made me <i>better</i>.
I gained confidence. I let go of
my anxiety. I learned to control the
things I can control and to stop worrying so damn much about the things that I
cannot. I still have super stressful
days and times when I doubt myself, but because of Stroller Strides and the
incredible group of women in the classes, I am now stronger, physically <i>and</i> emotionally, than I have ever
been. Thank you all so much for all that
you do, even when you don’t know that you are doing it. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> And on a serious final
note, if you ever feel like you are dealing with depression, post partum or
otherwise, talk to someone. It took me a
long time to confide in my husband and my close friends how I was feeling. And it took me even longer to go talk to my
doctor about it. But keeping it inside
will NEVER make it better. So take that
incredibly difficult first step of making yourself better. You will never regret doing so. </span>Jessica Buxtonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10673135240730504921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-990042095835083731.post-47879204173072913332013-08-13T21:38:00.001-10:002013-08-13T21:38:34.251-10:00Meet our newest instructor....<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlNspbt3yiqasSAGUpddEImQfmzNCH-XOuO4-22TgolRG_Ppj58jBCh7x9wTMD78BgxBFerJPzGMBRpQbIhCPgotG6BZH3zCYU9c5VyDBoDd95JJh4dhfeQI4FxlWeBMOfflTfh5YGw_hh/s1600/1097561_10101702803954103_568762961_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlNspbt3yiqasSAGUpddEImQfmzNCH-XOuO4-22TgolRG_Ppj58jBCh7x9wTMD78BgxBFerJPzGMBRpQbIhCPgotG6BZH3zCYU9c5VyDBoDd95JJh4dhfeQI4FxlWeBMOfflTfh5YGw_hh/s320/1097561_10101702803954103_568762961_n.jpg" width="272" /></a>Aloha, I'm Jessica - proud Air Force wife and
mother of two. Originally from Pennsylvania, I traveled to sunny
Florida for an internship and met my incredible husband, Jeremy. We were
married, blessed with our first precious son, Carter Jacob (3 y.o.),
and on our way to Hawaii all in one year! Once we settled down in
paradise we grew our family by one more adorable son, Lucas Kai (1 1/2
y.o). Although I have my degree in Tourism & Hospitality, with the
unpredictability of military life and our family not yet complete, I've
decided to enjoy motherhood while my children are young and plan to
focus on a career in the future.<br />
A little about me: I enjoy
baking, interior design, playing tennis with my hubby, and entertaining
our friends & family (I love any excuse to throw a party!) When in
doubt, you can find me at the beach with my two little boys or out
shopping!<br />
Physical activity and sports, such as soccer and
competitive horseback riding, were always a part of my youth, but my
transition into amotherhood meant more time at home and less time
working out! I discovered Stroller Strides in August of 2012 and since
then, my sanity and waistline have been saved!! Through dedication,
sweat, and motivation from the other fabulous moms & instructors I
have experienced some amazing results. I accredit this to the empowering
and supportive atmosphere SS provides. I have learned you can, indeed,
"get your body back" after children AND feel great! I also love the
positive example we are providing for our children; I believe seeing a
parent physically lead a healthy lifestyle of exercise is PRICELESS (and
what is cuter than seeing your toddler try to do a burpee?!)<br />
That
being said, I am excited for a new journey in the fitness profession as
a Stroller Strides instructor! I look forward to making even more great
friends while motivating & inspiring mothers to make their own
health and well-being a priority!Jessica Buxtonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10673135240730504921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-990042095835083731.post-65484231983339768632013-08-01T07:00:00.000-10:002013-08-01T07:00:06.511-10:00Lindsey's Success Story<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>

Hi, my name is Lindsey, you may know me from Hickam, CORP, or even Schofield from way back when I first started (almost 2 years ago,<br />
wow!). I have a deep love for Stroller Strides and everything that<br />
comes with it. In the past few months I began slowing down, missing<br />
classes, and skipping my morning runs. It was just so easy to roll<br />
over and sleep a couple extra hours. At the end of each week I was hit<br />
a great feeling of guilt that I wasn’t pushing myself to my full<br />
potential.<br />
My clothes were gradually beginning to fit tighter again. I was back<br />
up to a size 10 on the higher end, I could wear them, but not as<br />
comfortably as I used to be able to. My heart sank when I went to the<br />
closet everyday and knew that I couldn’t wear my jeans because the<br />
awful muffin top would spill over. I was uninspired and full of self<br />
loathing.<br />
<br />
Fast forward to June, CJ (one of our lovely instructors) began talking<br />
about Stroller Barre and how it could lift your butt in four classes.<br />
I told her I was in, I wanted to sign up and start as soon as<br />
possible. This was my opportunity to give my workout that big push.<br />
All or nothing! I fell in love when we did the big demo class and<br />
signed up for the Barre Challenge as soon as I was able. I began<br />
attending classes 4-5 times a week, even staying for regular Stroller<br />
Strides after Barre. It made me feel like superwoman! I decided that<br />
my eating habits needed an overhaul too, so I began to add more<br />
healthy habits into my diet.<br />
<br />
Fast forward to today, week 4 of the Stroller Barre challenge. I<br />
thought about skipping because of the rain, but I had been in a funk<br />
for two whole days and loathing myself over eating fast food and pizza<br />
all weekend. I sucked it up and went to my workouts. As the rain<br />
poured down at the end and we pushed through some plank jacks my mood<br />
lightened. I took a deep breath and let go of all of the ick from the<br />
weekend. When I came home today I hopped out of the shower and dug<br />
through my dresser drawer of jeans. I pulled out one of my size 8<br />
pairs of jeans and fully expected to struggle and jump to put them on.<br />
They slid on and zipped! What’s more, the “muffin top” that I expected<br />
to see spilling over the sides was not spilling at all. Milestone<br />
reached! Now I can’t wait to see what the measurements at the end of<br />
the Stroller Barre challenge reveal! <br />

My name is Shantea Pierce I am the mother of 5 awesome kids four girls to
include 6year old twins, an 8 year old and 11year old with one 3year old baby
boy. Not to mention the wife to a rocking man. Before I had kids and even after
the first two I never really had weight issues I always breastfed and ate
moderately healthy and the weight would just come off I usually weighed
145-150lbs. Well after the twins I was stuck at 179-180lbs. Soon after having
Isaiah we moved to Hawaii and I was referred to stroller strides while on a
walk in the neighborhood. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I
started out on the South side of the island in October of 2011, while my
husband was deployed. I weighed about 169-170lbs. Soon after he got back my attendance
started slipping, followed by my own health issues I quickly found myself
overwhelmed by life changes. One would be the move from Ewa Beach to Schofield.
Great move financially but I hated leaving the friends I had made. During the
move of 2012 and the holidays of that year I soon realized on December 27, 2012
the day after my husband deployed yet again, that I looked the way I
felt…heavy…I weighed 196lbs. So at the beginning of the new year as cliché as
it may sound I told myself that if I’m not happy with the way I look the only
one who could change it would be me. I decided to push myself and set no
limits. So I showed up to my first class at Schofield in the rain and worked
out. I haven’t stopped going since after my first two weeks the GFC was offered
and I looked at it as an opportunity to do just what I said I would push myself.
At the beginning I still weighed 196lbs my Chest 37.5 my waist 35, and my hips
43 inches. After running all those races and working out almost 6 times a week
for 8 weeks my results were: chest 35.5 waist 31. Hips, 40.5. And I weighed
168lbs. Since then I have done my first half marathon with a time of 2:19. I
now weigh 150lbs and I wear a size 3 pants I haven’t done that since before all
5 kids!!!! I have made awesome friends and have gained phenomenal confidence.
The change in me can be felt by anyone closest to me, my beautiful children, an
even my husband, he can feel the change through every phone call, and FaceTime,
and that means the world to me. My SS ohana from the South side to the North side
have made all the difference in my life and I will forever be grateful to these
powerful, encouraging, women I mean that from the bottom of my heart. These Fit
Moms truly ROCK!!!</span></div>

My name is Keara and I have been attending classes at<br />
Schofield since November 2011. I am originally from Kentucky, have a<br />
Masters degree in Social Work, and have the most amazing little family<br />
a girl could ever want—my husband of 4 years, Greg; my 11 year old<br />
step-son, Caleb; and the light of my life, my 2 year old, Owen.<br />
<br />
I have always struggled with my weight…ALWAYS! Growing up, I would<br />
hear family members say, “Keara would be so pretty if she could lose<br />
weight.” One man even told my mother that I was the fattest child he<br />
had ever seen (yes, my mother put him in his place!). At my heaviest,<br />
I was 320 pounds (high school graduation day) and at my smallest, I<br />
was 140 pounds (the day Greg and I started dating).<br />
<br />
I did not have one of the glorious pregnancies that every woman dreams<br />
of. The day after I found out I was pregnant I gained 10 pounds—no<br />
lie! No matter what I did or ate the weight just piled on. I was put<br />
on bed rest at 7 months due to preeclampsia and that is where I stayed<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEV2m2d-5UISEo-OJ5FLyhrpnKYukaa9jFW-NSmNQdpqRClX2hK_oiFC6pYki_AGlVvEcEUcq043qdaWTpVImwtAm_BHdY0GZb2-yBbl2rrlU82MEftaqO9kht5w3k_m_6SRpujOuX5vTY/s640/image-2.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEV2m2d-5UISEo-OJ5FLyhrpnKYukaa9jFW-NSmNQdpqRClX2hK_oiFC6pYki_AGlVvEcEUcq043qdaWTpVImwtAm_BHdY0GZb2-yBbl2rrlU82MEftaqO9kht5w3k_m_6SRpujOuX5vTY/s320/image-2.png" width="180" /></a>until Owen was born. I gained close to 80 pounds during my pregnancy<br />
and was crazy enough to think the weight would just fall off<br />
afterwards since I was breastfeeding, eating right and exercising. I<br />
<br />
were PCSing to Hawaii shortly after Owen was born and it was like my<br />
whole life had been turned upside down. In desperation, I turned to<br />
food for comfort, something I had done my whole life.<br />
<br />
When I started SS in November 2011, I weighed over 280 pounds. I was<br />
6 months post-partum, had just moved away from family and friends and<br />
was living in the Schofield Inn. Needless to say, I was MISERABLE!!<br />
I remember showing up to class on the first day thinking, “What the<br />
heck have I gotten myself into?!?”<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaB-n45OWHpCUfY7u-7JFsHa7cUr7tasTrrzH8CXFxU3_T0n4ITf1n-S1qbHPrKSOhENxChtZGgBaFEUq-d9WYLn1dcYsXR-cj2fSpxAd-LAOoCNSJxlDgUClcrlwFJmTfiqqOd1QwCFD1/s640/image.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaB-n45OWHpCUfY7u-7JFsHa7cUr7tasTrrzH8CXFxU3_T0n4ITf1n-S1qbHPrKSOhENxChtZGgBaFEUq-d9WYLn1dcYsXR-cj2fSpxAd-LAOoCNSJxlDgUClcrlwFJmTfiqqOd1QwCFD1/s320/image.png" width="180" /></a>Little did I know that I had just started on a life changing journey!<br />
I had found the most amazing group of women I had ever met! Day after<br />
day, my SS mommas continue to amaze me! Not only do they provide me<br />
with motivation and encouragement during my workouts, I know I can<br />
count on them to help me with anything! I love seeing my SS moms get<br />
stronger and reach their fitness goals. I love watching the kids grow<br />
and Owen looks forwards to playing with his friends after every class.<br />
<br />
As of today, I have lost over 125 pounds and over 24 inches in my<br />
chest, hips and waist! I have gone from a size 24 to a size 10 and I<br />
honestly have never felt healthier in my life!! I could never have<br />
done it without SS, the instructors and the members. I owe everything<br />

a blessing you are to Owen and I. I am so thankful to call you not<br />
only my friends, but my family! I look forward to reaching many more<br />
fitness goals—like mastering the art of running!—and I know I will get<br />
there with the help of my SS ohana! Keep pushing, motivating and<br />
believing in me ladies—this momma’s not done yet!<br />

born December 16, 2012. Dominic was 8 lbs 8 oz and 20 inches long
despite arriving more than 2 weeks early. His big brothers, Max and
Bennett, were so thrilled to meet their new baby brother. This
pregnancy was filled with new challenges for me but I was so grateful
for the support of Stroller Strides along the way. I attended classes
right up until I delivered and I am sure that was the reason for such an
easy labor and delivery experience. My recovery has also been
extremely easy and I think that is because the Hickam ladies kept me in
shape right up until the very end! </span></div>

we've grown. Aside from the physical fitness that Stroller Strides
provides, it has given me such a strong and wonderful network of

</span>I have been married to my husband Justin for 6 years now and have a
crazy son Waylon who is almost 2.<span> </span>We
have two fur babies that create a great dynamic, our cat Jada and our dog Roxxxie.<span> </span>I was born and raised in Iowa where I grew up
on a farm. While in high school I participated on the dance team and used it to
stay in great shape.<span> </span>After high school I
went through cosmetology school, and that is where I met my husband.<span> </span>After cosmetology school I completed massage
therapy school, learning various types of massage.<span> </span><span> </span>After
Justin finished his Navy schooling in South Carolina he was stationed in Hawaii
and brought me along for the trip.<span> </span><span> </span>I found myself managing a salon with very
little motivational downtime.<span> </span>After the
first trip to Hawaii we moved to Virginia, where I worked in a high energy
salon and occasionally worked out with a friend.<span> </span>After Virginia we were lucky enough to pull
shore duty in Hawaii.<span> </span>I was grateful for
a second chance here.<span> </span>Shortly after
returning I <span> </span>became pregnant with
Waylon.<span> </span>After my pregnancy I found most
of the clothes in my closet didn’t fit anymore and decided that it was time to
get back in shape.<span> </span>It was at this point
that I was finally introduced to Stroller Strides.<span> </span>I was instantly addicted and my only regret
was that I hadn’t started sooner.<span> </span>I was
able to enjoy being outside in beautiful Hawaii, meet supportive women,
entertain Waylon, and make some really great friends.<span> </span>I even find myself looking forward to my
mornings (even though I have never really considered myself a morning
person).<span> </span>I am excited to spread my
addiction for exercise and help others to reach their own goals!</div>

<span style="font-size: small;">I

<span style="font-size: small;">
Despite completing my first marathon weeks before conceiving, remaining
active in Stroller Strides for most of the pregnancy, and being in
better physical shape during this pregnancy compared to my first, I had a
somewhat difficult pregnancy and labor and delivery. The support and
encouragement I received from my Stroller Strides sisters helped me
through some of the tougher times during my pregnancy and I was
supported postpartum through several ladies bringing meals for our
family. Stroller Strides is so much more than working out and getting
in shape; it's about building relationships with other women who are in
similar walks of life and encouraging and building one another up. The
friendships I have made have been such an incredible blessing!</span></div>

<div style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New,Courier; font-size: x-small;">
"I wish I had taken a "before" photo just a month ago (even though I've<br />
been at SS since March of 2011). This spring I had to switch birth<br />
control and I gained 5 pounds of very stubborn water weight. I was in<br />
class all spring and summer 2-4 x a week-ish. And in August with the<br />
attendance competition I had reason to go to SS as often as possible.<br />
At the end of August I was disappointed that I still felt that bloat.<br />
I could care less about numbers on the scale so long as I feel<br />
progress, or can see a difference. I was thinking of saying screw it,<br />
I can't fight this. When I had my measurements taken in September I<br />
was smaller than I was last October when I was measured for the GFC<br />
and had just been really sick. I couldn't believe it. It was the<br />
evidence I needed to just keep up what I was doing. I went to SS<br />
sometimes 6 days a week and upped my water intake by a lot. The five<br />
pounds is gone and I have muscles I've never seen on me before. It's<br />
awesome. I remember you talking about Before & Afters at class and<br />
how everyone has come so far. I agree and just wanted to share my<br />
recent experience. I love Stroller Strides!"</span></div>

My name is Stacy and I attend Stroller Strides at CORP with
my three year old son, Jacob, and my four month old, Nathan. I am
originally from Oklahoma. I met my husband, Brett while at college in
Edmond, OK, and we married in 2005. We remained in Oklahoma for a few
years while my husband finished his schooling and I worked as a social
worker for the state. In 2009 my first son, Jacob, was born, and shortly
after we moved to Hawaii as my husband is in the Army and stationed at
Schofield Barracks. We welcomed the newest member of our family, Nathan,
in April 2012 and he has been such a delight to us! </div>

in Hawaii. We have been on the island almost three years, and hope to
stay as long as possible. We enjoy hiking, exploring the island,
and hanging out at the beach. I also love to paint, cook, and play
the piano. Oh, and shop. </div>
<div>
</div>
We joined Stroller Strides in August 2012, as I was looking for a
program to help me get back in shape after having Nathan. I had tried
working out on my own, but found my motivation a bit lacking : ).
Stroller Strides has been such a blessing to us. Not only do I get a
great workout, but I also get to work out in the beautiful, perfect
weather and scenery of Hawaii alongside some really great and motivating
Mamas. Everyone has been so welcoming to us and it's just a
great feeling to belong to such a fun group. <span style="color: black; font-family: arial; font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Hi, ladies! I'm so happy to
introduce Emma Grace to all of you. She was born on July 28th at 9:33
in the morning. She weighed 7 pounds, 14.7 ounces and was 18.5 inches
long. I was induced the night before around five o'clock and got the
epidural a few hours later. After that, it was smooth sailing- I got
the best sleep I'd had in months and woke up almost ready to go! I
started to push at 9:30 and three pushes later, she was here! I was so
afraid that I would have to have another c-section or that Emma would
come early like her brother did. I really believe that staying active
and doing Stroller Strides while I was pregnant helped me to get the
delivery experience that I hoped for. Emma can't wait to meet you
ladies (she doesn't say much, but she's fun to look at) and her big
brother is excited to see all of his friends! See you in October!- Mara</span></span></span>Jessica Buxtonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10673135240730504921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-990042095835083731.post-10247684621606347602012-08-22T13:48:00.002-10:002012-08-22T16:11:57.427-10:00Tripler Fisher House 1st Annual 8k Heroes Rememberance Run, Walk or RollThis past weekend, two of our Stroller Strides mommas from Schofield participated in the Tripler Fisher House 1st Annual 8k Heroes Rememberance Run, Walk or Roll.<br />
<br />
Devin and Barbara ran this 8k which sought to raise awareness about this particular non-profit organization and
how they can assist military families during a medical crisis or
loss.<br />
<br />
From the website: In memory of our fallen service members, we're
collecting 6,719 pairs of boots (to represent each Service Member who
has either been killed in action or died while on duty since 9/11) to
line the path of the 2012 Fisher House Run. Pictures and a flag will be
added to honor them.<br />
<br />
What a wonderful cause and as always, I am so inspired by the commitment to health and fitness that our amazing moms exhibit outside of Stroller Strides.<br />
<br />
Also, not to forget, Shanna, who ran a 10 mile race that was held on Wheeler. (I hope I did not neglect to mention any other mommas who also ran races this past weekend!). <br />
<br />
Great job mommas!!<br />

<div>
Hi my name is Megan I'm from CA. I married my husband Trevor (I
call him Captain America... hahaha) September 2, 2010 moved to Hawaii
in October 2010 and soon after decided to have a baby. I conceived
Molly in February 2011. In June 2011 I had to go back to CA to stay with
family I was too far into my pregnancy to fly any later, cause my
husband was leaving for deployment in September 2011. Molly was born a
few days before my birthday. She is October 7th, and I'm October 11th.
8:00pm 8 lbs. 20inches long. She had some complications when she come
out, American Red Cross flew my husband out for free. He met his
daughter when she was 4 days old, on my birthday. What a wonderful
birthday present right? We got to spend a wonderful 4 weeks together and
then he was sent back to the ocean. I came back to Hawaii April 2012
at the end of my husbands deployment with my daughter who is now coming
up on 10 months old. I joined Stroller Strides I think in June this
year? haha I absolutely love it. I've gotten close with a few ladies in
the classes. Every time I go to a class it always brightens my day and
gets me motivated to get all my chores done through out the day. Even
though I'm a TOTAL grump when I'm working out. Stroller Strides is
keeping me sane. I live right next to the Stadium, in Aiea. Military
housing called Halawa. I don't have many hobbies. I'm very crafty and
artsy. I started making hair bows, I do that sometimes. Other than that I
try to catch up on my sleep. Molly is teething and she wakes up like 5
times through the night. SO I get little power naps through out the
night. I think my goal through Stroller Strides, is just to be healthier
and get tighten and toned haha. My whole life I've never really been
any of those. My problem area is my mid section. My husband does
Crossfit, and he motivates me and helps me a lot to be more healthy. He
had such a dramatic change with his body. Gained a lot of pregnancy
sympathy weight and lost it all during deployment, and is very fit now.
He's really inspiring. We're going to be getting out of the military in
December this year, and moving to Virginia. I'll be leaving in October
though. I'm going to miss all the Stroller Strides girls I've met. I
hope I can stick with Stroller Strides for as long as I can. </div>

weeks ago and I am loving it. I moved here with my husband just over a
year ago from Mississippi where he was attending pilot training. I
am originally from Mississippi but moved to Seattle when I was in high
school and then moved back to MS for school. I have a one year old
little boy named Grayson who is my absolute world. Grayson was born two
months early and was only 4 pounds but he is now a 30 pound one year
old! He is a big boy. I love hiking, swimming, going to the beach,
paddle boarding, LEARNING to surf and of course spending most of my time
with Grayson. The beach is definitely where I was meant to be and I
can't imagine living anywhere else. ( I pray that we never have to leave
beautiful Hawaii lol) I have my degree in Elementary Education and hope
to one day teach Kindergarten once Grayson is a little older.</span></div>

all will see me at stroller strides A LOT more than usual. I am planning
to come almost every day during the week in hopes I can start losing

<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;">Hi, my name is Maria. <span> </span>I moved to the island over 2 years ago with my husband and
two children on military orders.<span>
</span>This is our second tour in Hawaii, our first being over 12 years
ago!<span> </span>Sadly this is also our last
year in Hawaii as my husband will be retiring the summer of 2013.<span> </span>I really don’t have a place that
I call my “hometown” since I was a military brat (Navy) from the very beginning
and then a military wife (Air Force) and have moved around all my life.<span> </span>However, most of my family resides in
Washington state and Tennessee.<span>
</span>Tennessee is where I met and married my high school sweetheart nearly 19
years ago!<span> </span>We have two wonderful
children together, Gabby, who is 15 and going to be a sophomore in high school
and my little monster, Elijah, <span> </span>who
will be 3 in September!<span> </span></span></div>
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
</span></span><div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;">I first started attending Stroller Strides here at Hickam
when it first started up in February and I will say it couldn’t have come at a
better time for me.<span> </span>Last year, my
husband and I trained to run the Honolulu Marathon.<span> </span>This was a dream of his to run a marathon, not mine, but I
thought it would be a great way for me to try and lose the baby weight from my
son.<span> </span>So I trained, ran my first
marathon, which happen to be my first race ever, last December.<span> </span><span> </span>I was really proud for finishing the marathon, but
REALLY discouraged that instead of losing weight, I gained weight!<span> </span>This is when I realized I needed to do
something more than just running for my weight loss and joined Stroller
Strides.</span></div>
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
</span></span><div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Since joining Stroller Strides I have lost several pounds,
inches, and have trimmed about two minutes off my minutes per mile! I have since ran two half marathons and
currently training again to do the Honolulu marathon this year. All of which I know would have not been
possible without Stroller Strides.
Through Stroller Strides I have met some really good friends, together
we have created a great running group that keeps me motivated and encouraged
with my weight loss goals and marathon training. Being able to bring Elijah with me during my workouts is
just another added bonus. He truly
enjoys being able to play and interact with all the other kids and

My name is
Jessica. I attend Stroller Strides-Hickam with my beautiful, smiley, 12-month-old <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"></span>daughter
Gemma. I am a former
Spanish high school teacher and cheer coach who met my remarkable
husband
Gabe, while he was on recruiting duty in our home state of Texas.
Needless to
say, he recruited a wife. Yes, we met at the high school I taught at! I
love spending time at the beach, singing and dancing in the kitchen with
my daughter while cooking Tex-Mex, and reading a good book (not in
Spanish literature, I have read my share for a MA in Spanish...at least
not any time soon). I love to craft and try to be just as musical as my
husband who is an avid drummer. Who says wind instruments can not be
just as cool as the guitar or drums? We are
closing in on the end of our 5-year tour here on the island and about to
start
a new adventure in the Sunshine State of Florida.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I found Stroller Strides through an awesome friend who
wanted me to try it out with her and I am so delighted I did. I have created
new friendships at SS and my daughter has a fabulous time interacting with the
other children. As a first time mom at 32, I was really worried about gaining
too much weight during pregnancy, but what no one warned me about was the
weight you can gain post postpartum even while nursing full time. I need SS to keep
me on track to lead an active lifestyle. After leaving my job teaching Spanish
at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, I found the transition to being a stay at
home mom a little more complex than I imagined.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I needed to find a place where I could bond with other
moms.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>SS was just the place! I
love the underlying sisterhood at Stroller Strides and everyone is so
forthcoming. I could not have asked for a better group of women to cheer me on.
I was an active runner before having Gemma but now running is a challenge and I
hope SS will give me the edge I need to get back into the running game. Gemma
and I have completed 3-5Ks, 1 -10K, and the Great Aloha Run together. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I love having my daughter with me during
my runs as it adds to the satisfaction when we cross the finish line together. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We aspire to complete a ½ marathon as
part of our Hawaii bucket list before our departure. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Luckily, I have found a SS group in Florida and hope it
will be just as amazing but SS Hickam will always be my SS home and in my heart. </span>Jessica Buxtonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10673135240730504921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-990042095835083731.post-46908874276258731902012-08-14T07:00:00.000-10:002012-08-14T07:00:01.786-10:00Meet Elizabeth<br />

years old. My husband is in the Navy, currently working out of Pearl
City. We were married in December of 2010, and have been in Hawaii
since January 2011! Our daughter Sophia is 3 months old. I am currently
a stay-at-home-mama, and working on learning how to juggle my
mommy-duties, school, music, and writing. I am working towards
completing a bachelor's degree in American history, to help with my
ultimate career goal of writing historical fiction. With all the free
time that
leaves (lol) I practice the violin with hopes of having the opportunity
to play professionally (at some currently unknown and very vague point
in the future). All that being said, I love being a stay-at-home-mama

<span style="font-size: small;">I joined
Stroller Strides at the beginning of July, with the goal of losing the

generally becoming more fit. I'm loving it so far and looking forward
